Prayer & Meditation

Prayer

The journey in life and how to live by faith in an uncertain world. You can’t change the past. Whatever has happened in your life so far, both good and bad, cannot be altered, and all the decisions and events that have made you what you are today are inscribed in the story of your life. With God’s help you can change the future, and that’s what I want to talk about. The future does not need to be a copy of the past, nor does God want it to be. No matter what your life has been like so far, God wants to put your feet on a new path, a bigger and better path. And regardless of what you may have thought, his path promises peace, joy and purpose far beyond anything you could ever imagine.

I write a lot about what has happened in my life, so this is a mirror of how I have been able to overcome so much adversity and move forward creating a more desirable path, leading to opportunity and blessings beyond my imagination. Things like this that transpire over time just don’t happen out of nowhere; like an architect who draws plans and a building appears out of nowhere… there is a process in real time that takes place to go through a journey to get to the end result. God has given us a blueprint for living but we must know what it is and then put it into action. And this can happen because God doesn’t leave us to do it alone. He wants to be with us every step of the way, guiding and helping us (and even correcting us when necessary), because he loves us and wants what is best for us.

My prayer for you as you read this is to let go of what is holding you back and perhaps begin a new journey, a great and exciting journey full of fire and passion to experience the unthinkable. As we’ll see it, it isn’t always an easy journey, but even in the midst of our problems, temptations, and sorrows, life can be different if you want it to be. Most of all, life is an amazing journey and at the end of life there is hope that leads us all to heaven.

No matter how young or old you are or what your life has been like so far, I invite you go internal, and take a look at your desires so that the rest of the journey is full of abundant blessings to share with the world. Walk in faith and be certain of where you are going, even in tough times in an uncertain world.

You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus. Our God and Father abounds in glory that just ours out into eternity. ~ Philippians 4:19-20

Meditation

Mediation in some form, is practiced by people of all faiths – and people of no faith. Meditation is natural, not forced. A person can meditate on words, images, concepts, sounds, ideas, and so forth. whether spiritual or secular, godly or ungodly. Christian meditation is in a class by itself. Ultimately, God is it’s focus.

Some traditions tend to complicate the act of meditation with instruction on how to sit and how to breathe and so forth, and settling in to a comfortable but not sleep-inducing position is certainly helpful. Meditation is a simple practice that involves deep reflection on one thing and one thing only. If you choose to meditate on a portion of scripture, for example, you keep your mind and your heart focused on those verses asking the Holy Spirit to reveal the meaning to you. If your mind wanders, and it most likely will, deal with the distraction or dismiss it, but return to the meditation. You may or may not receive new insights – sometimes, they occur to you weeks later but the time you have spent practicing meditation in the presence of the Lord, is time will spent.

Spend quiet times with God. The demands and distractions of life in the twenty-first-century America are well known. What is less known, it seems, is that you can subdue those demands and distractions and find your way back to a saner way of living. More important, in the process you can grow closer to God. But it takes an intentional effort.

Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things. ~ Philippians 4:8
