I Think I
Being an Aunt of Two Nephews and Seven Nieces (one being a fluffy cat) I know the feeling of love for kids as well as for pets as if they were my own. I have to admit, my relationships with the girls and boys is fun, I’m very active in all of their lives and we get together often to enjoy family time.
One relationship I want to bring to light that although is with my four legged fury niece, a cat named Kalee; it is one of the most interactive relationships I’ve ever experienced with an animal. Before I get into it, the first thing I have to say is she has more attitude than any Six year old I have ever had contact with. That should give you some ideas of where this is going.
So let me take you through a day in the life of Kalee and just how well we are bonded. Now, I’m not sure about you but I never knew cats had body clocks like humans, until Kalee started waking up after she had enough beauty sleep and was ready to eat. Just about the time I am in dreamland… you know how that goes, from about 6:00-7:00 am when the dozing is really good, Kalee decides it is time for her to stretch and wake me up for her breakfast. Most would just blow it off but you simply can’t if you are hanging with Kalee.
The message is clear, you either get up or get her some food or you lye there listening to her ask over and over that you get up and get to the kitchen, or else! … So you may be starting to get the picture here… yes, she is a princess, you got that right.
Ok so now in the kitchen as I start to figure out where I am and what to do next all the while wanting to be back in bed, little Miss Kalee is at my leg just talking away as she anxiously awaits the food in the dish. Once she is at ease and sitting down for her bowl of nuggets, I must
clean the cat boxes….yes, I said cat boxes! – Kalee has to have a box for both types of Bio… must be nice! Anyways, I clean the boxes and deodorize her station and move onto opening up the curtains to let the sunlight in.
Let me explain to you Kalee’s little corner of the world, she loves to go outside, but unfortunately she has allergies and once I start that chaos, the drama never ceases, so she has a set up right by the window where she has a clear pathway view of the stairs leading to the grass and trees, that is what she loves so that is what she gets.
You may be picturing her sitting on her four legs on a floor or in a cat bed looking out the window and if you are, then let me tell you another thing that will make you believe that the princess has it all… she actually has a bed made up of layers of fluffy, goose down comforters and bedding so that she has a nice cozy camp ground for her viewing of the outdoors, and next to that is a table used for office desk space and a computer; you would think she would stay off of that campground but NO WAY Jose!
She likes to make herself known throughout the castle and claim several places in the office as to where she likes to lay her head and take her afternoon nap… again, must be nice!
My favorite is watching her get right up under her mom’s nose and stare her down as she opens her mouth and says hello, look at me, aren’t I pretty and when is my next meal, literally! – if no attention is paid to her then she makes her way to her bowl to munch on what is left from the last feeding. Let me tell ya, she sure doesn’t need to eat as much as she does but the princess has her routine and if mom derails then the day is upside down.
My spoiled Niece Kalee has to have it her way or the highway, in fact when she goes to her Bio station, she has to let it be known that she has done her deed and is ready for her deserving treat, (the special little cat nibbles every cat would die for), she doesn’t just get one, she gets two! – She either goes to her bed by the window or receives her treat or she plays fetch when her mom throws it on the carpet. So this cycle sorta repeats itself throughout the day and by night, well, that is a whole other story…

I Only Look Like I
You see when night rolls around she wants more to eat and more attention, she loves her belly rubbed and her hair brushed, she loves to be scratched and talked to, more so than any other cat I know.
She is unusually different, she knows how to manipulate any situation to get her way, when I say get her way, I mean she gets her treat, her bowl filled high, her purified water changed out or an occasional drink from the sink.
She knows how to make her mom tick; she gets so close to her on the desk work station that she sometimes decides that she will take over the keyboard and lye across the area that blocks her mom from typing. She knows that this will not go over well with her mom and that mom will have to move things around to make enough space to accommodate her curvaceous figure.
So let’s fast forward to the 11 o’clock hour as it approached midnight…
That is typically the time mom starts to wind down and call it a day. Kalee knows that it is midnight, don’t ask me how, but she knows, you see, every time I’m around her this happens, she comes up to her mom at her work station while she is working on the computer and does her normal talking, waltzing in front of mom, laying where she feels she wants to get attention so that mom gives in and says, OK, let’s go to bed… and then it happens, nighty night time…. Kalee knows that when mommy says lets go to bed, that it is her time for treat and a bedtime lullaby.
Kalee goes to the bed and takes her stance on her corner of the bed and on her pillow on the bed… oh yes, she has that space all mapped out too – she always wants her corner and after her treat, she will not even budge or move until mom has to beg for her to come under the covers and back up towards mom’s head so that they can snuggle cheek to cheek and have a little chat before lights out.
Mom sings her a song, the same song every night and follows it with hugs, kisses and telling her how much she loves her. At this point Kalee is content and ready to hit the hay, close her eyes and go off to dream about the next day and how to she can’t wait to get up for breakfast, on her time clock!
Now that you know my four legged fury niece with attitude and have about a day in her life, don’t you think Kalee would be the envy of every cat on the planet? … I sure do! – Kalee is a sweetheart with a loving mom who spoils her to death, well, honestly her auntie does too!
